Responsibilities

As a Float Medical Assistant at Dignity Health Medical Foundation clinics, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services. Your primary responsibilities will include:

1. **Patient Preparation**: Proactively prepare patient charts, ensuring all necessary information is accurate and current for those receiving care.
2. **Assisting with Procedures**: Support the clinical team by preparing patients for examinations or procedures, assisting during procedures, and effectively communicating instructions from healthcare providers to patients or their representatives.
3. **Data Collection**: Gather essential patient data and administer medications as directed by physicians, while accurately measuring and documenting vital signs.
4. **Environment Maintenance**: Uphold a clean, organized, and safe environment, performing patient care services under the supervision of qualified healthcare professionals.
5. **Record Management**: Manage medical records and electronic medical records (EMR) efficiently.
6. **Communication**: Document and communicate any patient concerns to physicians, physician assistants, or nursing staff.
7. **Authorization Coordination**: Collaborate with physicians, insurance providers, and pharmacies to secure authorizations for patient medications, including refills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or equivalent military training required.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures, and pharmacology relevant to the Medical Assistant role required.
• Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association).

Preferred Qualifications:
• Six months of experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Certification from an approved agency by the Medical Board of California preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic practice management systems preferred.

Pay Range

$27.71 per hour
