Radiation Oncology Therapist

Radiation Therapy Technologists play a crucial role in the treatment of patients with cancer and other diseases. As a Radiation Therapy Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of technical procedures, including the application of ionizing radiation from radioactive materials or generators. You will work closely with Radiation Oncologists and Dosimetrists to discuss treatment plans and ensure that patients receive the best possible care.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform technical therapeutic procedures using ionizing radiation
* Confer with Radiation Oncologists and Dosimetrists to discuss treatment plans
* Position patients for radiation therapy, providing immobilization devices as needed
* Set up equipment according to treatment plans, verifying the placement of bars, wedges, and other devices
* Monitor patients for unexpected reactions and report any deviations to the Therapist
* Record delivered dosage values on charts, verifying these values against prescribed treatment plans
Requirements
* California Radiology Technologist of Radiography (CRT-R) certification
* Registered Technologist for Radiation Therapy issued by ARRT (R.T(T)(ARRT))
* BART or BLS certification at time of hire, with commitment to obtain BART within six months of hire date
* Experience with daily set-up and treatment of patients
* Excellent communication skills, with ability to articulate complex ideas to all levels of audiences
* Ability to work independently, with minimal direction and supervision
Preferred Qualifications
* Previous experience in a large, complex healthcare environment
* Experience with CT Simulations, MU Calculations, Aria, Patient Manager, Treatment and Time Planner
Working Conditions
* Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs
* Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical
Compensation
* Annual Full Pay Range: $118,181 - $146,933 (prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%)
* Hourly Equivalent: $70.37
