Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Watershed Plant Operator Class III to join our team at the City of Atlanta. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our wastewater treatment processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations governing wastewater treatment processes, stormwater, and sludge management.
  • Perform regular maintenance and repairs on plant equipment and machinery, ensuring all work is conducted in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations.
  • Respond to emergencies and breakdowns at the water reclamation center and/or pump stations, providing critical support to our community.
  • Train and mentor colleagues on proper procedures for operating and maintaining our water reclamation centers and/or pump stations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and 1 year of work experience in a wastewater plant or related area.
  • Valid State of Georgia Driver's License and Class III Wastewater License required.
  • Forklift Certification and/or Class B CDL desirable.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, read and understand design drawings and plans, and operate a company vehicle and pick-up truck. You must be able to lift and move equipment, and work in a fast-paced environment with rotating shifts and emergency call-outs.
