RF Systems Engineer Opportunities at SpaceX

Welcome to SpaceX, where innovation meets advancement. As a RF Systems Engineer, you will be part of our esteemed team responsible for developing the RF devices that power our satellites and ground antennas. Your expertise will be crucial in simulating and modeling the terrestrial and orbital communication systems for Starlink, helping define their architectures and specifications.
Main Responsibilities:
- Simulate and model communication systems
- Work with system architects, RF engineers, antenna engineers, modem/DSP, and ASIC engineers to partition functions between hardware and software domains
- Assess feasibility of various designs in support of architecture definition
- Derive top-level specifications for RF links and RF and antenna subsystems
- Characterize and analyze system performance
- Provide technical support to regulatory, coordination, and market access teams
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline
- Experience in MATLAB, Python, C++ or other tools for modeling and analyzing RF systems
- 1+ years of research or development experience in the areas of RF and antennas
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering with emphasis in RF/microwave circuits or communication theory
- Experience performing analysis and simulation of communication systems
- Thorough understanding of RF passive and active components
- Experience characterizing radio performance at microwave frequencies
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission-critical deadlines
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay range: $120,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
