Laboratory Client Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Client Support Specialist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. This role will provide comprehensive laboratory support for KP Lab, CPMG providers, and external providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for external laboratory tests and internal tests as needed.
- Place lab orders from external providers in the LIS and maintain required documentation for reports, requests, and results.
- Communicate and document results, including alert values, to clinical staff and create encounters in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Collaborate with providers to provide support for contracted and non-contracted testing or results.
- Research and pricing: provide pricing and CPT codes to the Patient Financial Services (PFS) department for external lab testing and perform extensive research for send-out testing.
- Administration: answer routine telephone calls, maintain a list of contracted laboratories and their current accrediting licenses, and update the database for external lab tests.
- Phlebotomy Resource: demonstrate knowledge of specimen collection processes and specimen requirements, assess specimen integrity, and prepare, package, and arrange for transport of specimens as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum two (2) years of phlebotomy or laboratory work, including specimen processing.
- One (1) year of customer service experience.
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program and successful completion of a phlebotomy externship of at least 80 hours, including specimen processing.
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
- Medical Technologist Certificate within 12 months of hire from American Medical Technologists or Medical Lab Scientist Certificate within 12 months of hire from American Society for Clinical Pathologists or Medical Lab Technician Certificate within 12 months of hire from American Medical Technologists or Medical Lab Assistant Certification within 12 months of hire from American Society for Clinical Pathologists or Phlebotomy Technologist Certificate within 12 months of hire from American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.
