We are seeking a highly motivated and well-rounded Maintenance Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing general maintenance tasks related to plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, HVAC units, and preventative maintenance at The Shay property in NW DC, comprising approximately 245 residential units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize a range of tools and equipment, including hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical testing devices to perform routine maintenance tasks
  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure building systems operate efficiently and identify potential issues before they become major problems
  • Diagnose and repair machinery or equipment malfunctions, as well as assemble, install, or replace wiring, electrical components, pipe systems, and plumbing fixtures
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Perform tasks such as painting, repairing roofs, windows, doors, floors, and other building structures to maintain the physical condition of the property
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment and related systems to ensure energy efficiency and optimal performance
  • Participate in general cleaning duties as required by the Maintenance Supervisor and promptly report any conditions requiring maintenance or cleaning
  • Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, or tools
  • Fabricate or repair wooden structures, such as counters, benches, partitions, or outbuildings
  • Install equipment to improve the energy or operational efficiency of residential or commercial buildings
  • Maintain curb appeal and provide grounds keeping services, such as landscaping and snow removal
  • Refurbish vacant units within the prescribed timeframe to minimize turnaround time
  • Handle resident service requests in a timely manner and implement the company's Preventive Maintenance Program
  • Coordinate sub-contractor work as needed and inspect completed projects
Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Two to four years previous experience in a maintenance role
  • HVAC Certification
