Job Summary

Michigan Medicine is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our pediatric acute care team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in preparing and delivering medications to patients in our pediatric care setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and package non-sterile compounded pharmaceuticals
  • Prepare sterile products, injections, and IV chemotherapy
  • Fill automated dispensing cabinets on nursing units
  • Correctly distribute and account for controlled substances usage
  • Deliver medications to nursing units, including surgical rooms
  • Stock medications shelves, manage inventory dating, return excess stock to inventory, and properly dispose of expired medications
  • Prepare and deliver investigational drugs per research protocols
  • Respond and triage telephone and electronic message inquiries
  • Assist the Pharmacist with auditing controlled substance utilization
  • Build various medication kits, providing support to multiple professions
  • Assist with training of staff
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor to assist with preparation and delivery of patient medications

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date
  • Proficient communication, computer, and basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to prioritize with accuracy and dependability
Desired Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • At least one year of technician experience or completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program
  • Basic algebra skills, including performing pharmacy calculations
