Pharmacy Technician II

As a Pharmacy Technician II at Trinity Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacy team in providing exceptional patient care. This role requires a high level of technical knowledge, independent judgment, and a high degree of accuracy. You will function as the team leader for all technicians at the site, demonstrating performance that consistently meets quality assurance standards, complies with state and regulatory requirements, and assumes responsibility for all aspects of retail pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Greets customers and Health System personnel, compiles patient/customer information, and processes prescriptions and medication orders.
• Generates medication labels, auxiliary labels, and documents for patient and pharmacy use, selects and repackages oral solids, liquids, and ointments in individual patient quantities, and prepares repackaging documentation.
• Operates and maintains pharmacy computer, cash register, and office equipment, reviews and processes computer data to determine and complete appropriate billing procedures, and generates and reviews data for medication trending, discrepancies, reconciliations, and other required reports.
• Assists in the training of new-hire Pharmacy Technicians, students/interns, and new-hire pharmacists, documents their progress, and reports results to the appropriate Pharmacy supervisor on an ongoing basis.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required, with a minimum of three years' experience as a retail pharmacy technician, licensure in the State of Michigan is required, and certification as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred.
• Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations, stand for long periods of time, and walk long distances without difficulty, basic typing and computer skills, and ability to work independently and exercise good judgment when prioritizing work responsibilities.
• Interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with patients, physicians, nurses, and other Health System personnel, analytical skills to determine when phone calls or emergency situations need to be referred to a pharmacist, and ability to accurately and quickly perform mathematical calculations commonly used in retail pharmacy.

• This role is based in a retail pharmacy setting, with a fast-paced environment and a high level of customer interaction.
• The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate effectively with patients and staff, and maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
