Job Summary:

West Tennessee Healthcare is seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team. As a PTA, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide high-quality patient care and support the delivery of physical therapy services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist licensed Physical Therapists in the delivery of patient care, including assessment, intervention, and education.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with Physical Therapists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct patient evaluations and assessments to identify treatment needs and goals.
  • Provide patient education and training on exercise programs, proper body mechanics, and other relevant topics.
  • Document patient progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in training and education programs to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • License to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Tennessee.

Working Conditions:

May be exposed to human waste and body fluids, and infectious diseases. Requires routine supervision with the therapist of record within easy communication.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plan, organize, and adjust the daily schedule to optimally use available time, space, and equipment in order to provide the best possible treatment.
  • Utilize the appropriate treatment techniques, based on the latest information available and standards of practice, for selected diagnoses to create and meet the plan of treatment.
  • Use appropriate tests and measurements for the patient's age and problems that lead to an accurate understanding of the problems.
  • Develop objective and measurable goals that are supported by the evaluation.
  • Develop a treatment plan that is supported by the goals.
  • Participate in the training of other team members when appropriate, and provides educational opportunities to others at the request of the supervisor or program manager.
  • Document patients' records accurately, concisely, legibly, and in a timely manner to illustrate both progress and/or lack of progress per department standards.
  • Completes departmental and corporate forms accurately and in a timely manner.

Job Specifications:

  • Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.

Licenses, Registrations, Certifications:

  • License to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Tennessee.
