Role Overview

The Senior Director of Oncology Communications will spearhead the communication strategy for Servier Pharmaceuticals' Oncology portfolio and pipeline. This role is essential in promoting the potential of Servier's offerings and enhancing the company's reputation and visibility in the U.S. market.

This position will oversee the formulation and execution of communication strategies across various internal and external channels, supported by a dedicated team. It is crucial to maintain consistent messaging that aligns with the overall objectives of the organization.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs, this role will engage with numerous external stakeholders, including key opinion leaders and potential partners. As a member of the Corporate Affairs leadership team, the individual will serve as a leader within the broader U.S. Corporate Affairs function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans for Oncology products and pipeline, including pre-launch and launch programming and disease-awareness initiatives that align with business goals.
  • Ensure the distinctiveness of Servier's Oncology initiatives in the marketplace.
  • Create and maintain a robust flow of positive news across digital, print, and social media platforms.
  • Manage budgets, programs, consultants, deliverables, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Medical, Sales, and Patient Engagement teams to ensure an integrated communication approach.
  • Leverage resources from key departments within Global Communications and Public Affairs.
  • Lead communication efforts during any issues or crises that may arise.
  • Identify, recruit, mentor, and retain talent within the team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in developing communication strategies.
  • Experience in healthcare product and pipeline communications, preferably within a mid-sized global company.
  • In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, particularly with organizations operating across multiple regions; strong understanding of corporate governance.
  • A solid academic foundation in communications, business, or journalism.
  • Ability to serve as a strategic business partner, translating complex business and R&D information into accessible language for diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and advocate for positions effectively.
  • Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical sector, particularly within biotech firms, ideally in oncology.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory constraints related to biopharmaceutical promotion.
  • Balanced expertise in both strategic and operational matters; experience advising senior leadership on strategic issues and crisis management.
  • Proven leadership and teamwork abilities, working effectively within a complex, fast-paced matrix organization.
  • Proficiency in English, with excellent writing and presentation capabilities.
  • Familiarity with the digital transformation of communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with a high standard of quality and efficiency.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • This position is hybrid, requiring in-office presence several days a week.
