Cibola General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in the adult critical care unit, general floors, emergency room, and pulmonary function laboratory. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in the prevention and care of lung diseases, working closely with physicians and nurses to administer therapy and provide patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Therapy Administration: Administer physicians' prescriptions for therapy, utilizing a working knowledge of therapy indications, contraindications, and complications of various types of therapy.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records and charges of all therapy administered.
- Communication: Relay pertinent information to physicians and nurses taking care of patients.
- Safety and Precautions: Observe and enforce all safety rules and precautions in all departments, familiarizing yourself with hospital fire and disaster plans.
- Equipment Setup and Maintenance: Set up monitors and regulate mechanical ventilators to breathe for patients unable to do so on their own, and maintain the respiratory care equipment to required standards of function and cleanliness.
- Testing and Evaluation: Perform testing techniques in the pulmonary function laboratory, and participate in the CPR team.
- Education and Training: Provide patient and caregiver education, as well as continuing education, and discuss therapy for individual patients with the physician in charge.
- Departmental Contributions: Contribute to the evaluation and establishment of departmental standard policies and procedures, and assist in departmental research projects and the assessment of new respiratory care equipment and technology.
- Education: Associate's Science Degree or 2-year AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy Program, with a thorough knowledge of principles, literature, standard practices, methods, techniques, and new developments in the field.
- Licensure: Must hold one of the following credentials: Registered or Certified Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT, CRT), and be licensed by the New Mexico Occupational Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- Experience: Two (2) years of post-graduate experience preferred, with specialized knowledge in critical care, pediatrics, and emergency room experience desirable.
The position requires the ability to perform simple manipulative skills frequently, with hand-eye coordination skills, and the ability to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods. During some treatments, you may be required to assume uncomfortable positions, stoop, and bend frequently when administering treatments or assisting patients.
