Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Psychiatrist, MD will be to assist the Chief Clinical Officer in delivering an effective and efficient program of psychiatric services to adults and children. This role will focus on providing psychopharmacological services, integrated health services, and effective diversion to outpatient community-based programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose mental health conditions through thorough evaluations, including medical history reviews and psychological assessments.
  • Develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual needs, which may involve prescribing medications, recommending psychotherapy or other evidence-based therapies, and providing guidance on lifestyle modifications.
  • Evaluate patients by interviewing patient, family, and other persons, conducting physical examinations, observing behaviors, reviewing medical history and related documents, selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests, and ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications used in the treatment of mental health conditions, assessing patient response and adjusting as necessary, and educating patients about potential side effects and interactions.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as primary care providers, social workers, and dentists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care for patients.
  • Monitor progress and follow-up care, regularly assessing patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
Requirements
  • Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant.
  • One year of postgraduate training in an accredited residency program.
  • Valid licensure for the practice of psychiatry in the State of Kansas.
  • Board Certified in Adult and/or Child Psychiatry in the State of Kansas.
  • Valid DEA Certificate.
  • BLS Certification.
Working Conditions

This role requires movement throughout the building day or multiple locations during the day. The role may be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. The role is subject to interruptions and requires management of personnel and procedures in a high-stress and high-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
  • Moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Moves throughout the building to meet with employees, patients, or visitors.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Frequent communication with patients about their experience at the health center.
