Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is a key member of the Heartland Community Health Center team, responsible for providing comprehensive mental health care to patients in the community. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of patients to gather information about their mental health status, medical history, and psychosocial factors.
  2. Develop individualized treatment plans for patients, which may include medication management, psychotherapy, counseling, and other interventions.
  3. Collaborate with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team to establish goals and interventions for optimal mental health outcomes.
  4. Prescribe and monitor medications used in the treatment of mental health conditions.
  5. Work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as primary care providers, social workers, and dentists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care for patients.
Requirements:
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree with a specialization in Psychiatric Nursing.
  • Valid Licensure as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner; State of Kansas.
  • Must be certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Valid Board Certification in Adult and/or Child Psychiatry.
  • Valid DEA Certificate.
  • Active BLS Certification.
Work Environment:

The Psychiatric APRN will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment at the Heartland Community Health Center. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
