Job Title: Medical Director of Coding and Care Coordination

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is a leading public healthcare system recognized for its clinical and academic innovations. Our system comprises three hospital campuses and an integrated network of primary and specialty care practices in Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston's Metro North Region.

As an integral part of the Population Health Management leadership team, the Medical Director drives performance improvement by ensuring the completeness and accuracy of diagnosis coding across risk contract panels. This role also involves working clinically part-time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with primary care and specialty clinical leadership to achieve outstanding outcomes and meet/exceed goals
  • Design and implement initiatives to improve performance on completeness and accuracy of coding
  • Develop strategies to succeed in risk contracts and value-based care
  • Identify and drive organizational and cultural changes to adapt to changing market demands, technology, and internal initiatives
  • Provide guidance and interpretation on medical appropriateness related to diagnosis coding and documentation
  • Provide part-time clinical care
  • Engage and motivate clinical department leadership for performance improvement through coaching, skill building, and leadership
Requirements:

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of clinical experience as a licensed/Board Certified Physician or Physician Assistant with 1-2 years in a clinical leadership role. They should possess strong diagnostic skills, a thorough understanding of diagnosis coding, compliant documentation, HCC and HHS coding, and risk adjustment models. Proven medical leadership with clinical credibility and the ability to be a team player and team builder are essential.
