Job Summary

YAI is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Transportation Assistant - Paraprofessional to join our team. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation Support
    • Assist with the daily transportation of students, including reporting to the student lobby and receiving transportation assignments.
    • Perform various transportation-related duties, such as directing buses, maintaining traffic flow, and ensuring student safety.
    • Support the transportation liaison with communication needs, including relaying messages to drivers, matrons, parents, and staff.
  • Student Support
    • Assist students with intellectual and developmental disabilities with daily activities, including feeding, hygiene, and self-care.
    • Support students with their individualized education plans (IEPs) and related service sessions.
    • Provide emotional support and assistance to students as needed.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Assist with completing the daily student attendance tracker.
    • Support the adaptation and execution of last-minute protocol changes due to traffic issues.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Able to work with a great degree of independence and focus.
    • Willing and able to perform duties of all transportation-related posts, including post assignments outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to give direction to others.
    • Able to remain calm under pressure.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, able to implement last-minute changes due to traffic issues.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education and Experience
    • Associate's degree preferred.
    • One to three years of relevant healthcare, childcare, and/or other school-based experience preferred.
  • Certifications and Training
    • First Aid CPR AED certification preferred.
Compensation

$17.50 per hour
