Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Press Operator to join our team at American Packaging Corp. As a Press Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating assigned production machinery to meet or exceed safety, quality, and efficiency standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in training and actively practice safety protocols to aid in achieving a zero-accident rate.
  • Retrieve necessary setup information and complete machine changeover processes to minimize downtime and meet setup standard requirements.
  • Safely operate assigned production machinery, monitoring quality, production, and waste to adhere to customer specifications.
  • Observe and adhere to all safety guidelines and ensure adhesives meet quality standards.
  • Monitor glue pumps and fill as needed, make mechanical adjustments, and complete roll changes.
  • Successfully correct web breaks and complete necessary sheets for quality checks.
  • Monitor quality requirements and direct resources to effectively accomplish tasks.
  • Provide task leadership for utility and printing personnel and ensure all required quality data is properly documented.
  • Pre-plan next job before completion of current job and work with assigned Press Helper to troubleshoot and solve printing problems.
  • Ensure inks run at proper viscosities and correctly complete daily production sheets and quality inspection logs.
  • Distinguish deviance between established manufacturing packing specifications and report deviations to appropriate personnel.
  • Deliver accurate and concise information to adjacent shifts and Shift Supervisors and properly flag and document defects.
  • Ensure immediate work area is free of clutter and debris and perform all cleaning and sanitation responsibilities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Food Safety Training, consisting of GMP/PPE/Food Safety Policy, HACCP Plan, and SQF System, is provided to all personnel at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, and occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
