Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Charge Nurse to join our team at Providence Medical Center. As a Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the delivery of clinical nursing care in the Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage patient care, staff assignments, and ensure that all ER operations align with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the medical staff, patients, families, and other healthcare team members, ensuring effective communication and collaboration within the ER team.
  • Assign duties to nursing staff, ensure proper coverage for all shifts, address and resolve conflicts or issues among staff and patients efficiently, and oversee the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Manage and allocate nursing and medical resources effectively, and coordinate with admissions to optimize bed utilization.
Requirements
  • Current and valid state RN License
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • Current PALS (AHA) certificate and/or ENPC required 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 6 months of hire required
  • Previous supervisory experience, preferred
  • Minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting, E.D. setting preferred
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) within 2 years of hire, preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Facility Specific Requirements
  • In Paramedic Base Station ED, MICN, within 12 months of hire
  • EDAP Certified Facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 & 2 within 30 days of hire
  • Minimum of 4 hours of CEU in Pediatric Training Classes per year ENPC preferred
  • Non OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • Non OB facilities: Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 30 days upon hire
