Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Child Psych Specialist, PRN to join our team at Children's National Hospital. As a key member of our psychiatric care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to children and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Implement nursing care plans for children and their families under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Develop and lead patient groups to promote therapeutic milieu.
  • Implement individual treatment plans and time-outs/seclusion protocols as needed.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by adhering to safety protocols and plans.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including hygiene, rest, activity, and nourishment.
  • Work with patients to foster developmentally appropriate self-care and provide accommodations for children with physical disabilities.
  • Administer care to medically ill children under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Provide educational services to children and adolescents hospitalized on the inpatient psychiatric unit.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field.
  • Minimum one to six months of experience working with children in a healthcare, educational, or recreational setting.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification.
