Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures at a technical level, ensuring the safe and effective operation of radiological equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibits proficiency with imaging equipment across various settings, including emergency rooms and surgical areas.
- Identifies self to patients and confirms their identity and the physician's orders for imaging exams.
- Explains procedures to patients, addressing any questions to ensure their understanding and cooperation.
- Adheres to established protocols for imaging procedures to maintain consistency in views and positions.
- Completes all assigned imaging tasks, including room preparation, documentation, and equipment maintenance.
- Fosters a collaborative environment by maintaining effective communication with colleagues and staff.
- Recognizes the importance of patient flow and collaborates with team members to prioritize examinations.
- Delivers patient care across all age groups while utilizing diagnostic imaging technology.
- Ensures patient comfort and safety by using appropriate shielding and minimizing radiation exposure.
- Maintains confidentiality and respects patient privacy in all interactions.
- Participates in the training and mentorship of new staff and students, sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Engages in ongoing professional development to stay current with advancements in radiologic technology.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Licensure and Certifications:
- Registered in Diagnostic Radiology through the ARRT.
- Current ARRT certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum of two years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Proficient in the use of radiologic equipment and computer systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ARRT certification in Mammography or eligibility for certification.
