This entry-level position is primarily responsible for collecting and compiling field data. The successful candidate will review, analyze, and summarize recorded and collected data, and report the data to other personnel.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with performing field data collection for sewer, reuse, and water systems.
- Record field data in electronic data collectors or convert field notes, records, and sketches into electronic format to describe and certify work performed.
- Take digital photographs to document field conditions and set up proper field equipment for testing and data collection.
- Maintain field equipment and follow project quality control and quality assurance processes.
- Answer questions from personnel about data collected in the field and collection methods.
- Must be mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
- Must be able to work independently or within a team to work efficiently and effectively.
- Must be able to communicate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Must be able to read, write, and interpret reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and apply to practical situations.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must have mechanical aptitude.
- Must understand GPS technologies and GIS principles.
- Experience with GIS software is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license for operating company vehicles.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Must be able to frequently reach with hands and arms and climb.
- Must have vision abilities of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
This is an entry-level position working outdoors. Training will be provided.
This position is ideal for individuals with a strong understanding of GIS principles and experience with GIS software. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team to collect and compile field data.
