Join the City of Chesapeake Human Resources team as a Licensed Clinician I in our Emergency Services department.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Clinician I to provide pre-admission screening and crisis intervention services to our 24-hour Emergency Services unit and CIT Assessment Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete pre-admission screening and crisis intervention services to individuals in crisis
  • Conduct risk assessments to determine the appropriate level of care using the least restrictive alternative
  • Advocate for individuals requiring inpatient treatment, crisis stabilization, or detox services
  • Consult with magistrates and obtain TDOs and ECOs to promote safety
  • Maintain documentation in electronic health records and coordinate admissions to hospitals and outpatient treatment options
  • Represent the City of Chesapeake in commitment hearings and work closely with law enforcement to triage mental health crises
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field
  • State of Virginia licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), or Clinical Psychologist (LCP)
  • Minimum of two years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Rehabilitation
  • LCSW or LPC preferred
