Maintenance Technician I

ForKids is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician I to provide minor maintenance, landscaping, and cleaning services at our owned and leased sites. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and some related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct minor maintenance on agency properties, including monitoring and changing HVAC filters, light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, and window blinds.
  • Keep storage spaces clean and orderly.
  • Oversee and participate in preparation for and completion of volunteer projects, including landscaping and unit turnover.
  • Assist in preparation of residential units for occupancy, including cleaning and light painting.
  • Perform landscaping as directed, including mowing, trimming, edging, and watering.
  • Move agency furniture as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness in common areas such as foyers and stairwells in apartment buildings and community spaces.
  • Pick up litter at agency locations and move bulk trash items to curb when pick up scheduled.
  • Meet and provide access to agency sites for maintenance vendors (plumbers, electricians, security, etc.).
  • Perform routine inspections on agency vehicles (tire pressure & wear, lights, cleanliness, etc.).
  • Assist with pest control regimen as needed.
  • Practice professional behavior in communicating with clients while being aware of confidentiality and boundaries issues.
  • Participate in the emergency on-call rotation which shall consist of one on-call week in every four week period with agency on-call phone.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED), and some related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to organize time efficiently.
  • Ability to safely and efficiently drive to new locations.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (pounds).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Clean driving record, current license and proof of insurance required.
  • Knowledge of building and vehicle maintenance requirements and ability to communicate effectively regarding mechanical matters.
  • Knowledge of the use of office phone systems, personal computers and standard office software.
