Role Title: Director of Student Life and Residential Services

Employment Type: Full-time, 12-month, Exempt Position

Position Summary:

The Director of Student Life and Residential Services plays a pivotal role in enhancing campus life and student engagement, directly reporting to the Dean of Students. This position oversees the Assistant Director of Residential Services and the Assistant Director of Esports and Competitive Activities, serving as the principal professional for student activities and campus life, while actively engaging with the undergraduate student body.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead administrator for residential services catering to 200 to 250 students, including:
    • Formulating and enforcing policies that support residential life.
    • Managing Student Life Operations such as ID card systems, transportation services, parking registration, and food assistance programs.
    • Updating and maintaining the Guide to Residence Life.
    • Collaborating with external partners for housing initiatives.
    • Coordinating room selection processes and managing all communications related to residential life.
    • Acting as the primary contact for parental inquiries regarding student living conditions.
    • Serving as a liaison to facilities and maintenance for prompt resolution of physical environment issues.
    • Overseeing secure and conducive living environments that promote student development and academic success.
    • Working with the Assistant Director and Dean of Students to address behavioral issues and community trends.
    • Ensuring compliance with university policies within the residential setting, including facilitating nonacademic conduct processes.
    • Implementing programs that encourage learning and development, including Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.
    • Supporting the Office of Student Life by participating in on-call rotations for crisis management.
    • Collaborating with the Assistant Director of Esports to enhance recruitment and expand the Esports program.
    • Managing student-run clubs and organizations, including training and advocacy.
    • Facilitating Undergraduate New Student Orientation both online and in-person.
  • Lead administrator for student activities serving 300 to 400 undergraduate students, including:
    • Developing and executing New Student Orientation.
    • Creating and implementing policies that support student organizations and campus events.
    • Advising the Residence Hall Association and Student-Leadership Advisory Board.
    • Designing leadership training programs for student organization leaders.
    • Managing the budget for all student organizations.
    • Ensuring the development of diverse programming that fosters self-development and community engagement.
    • Coordinating scheduling and logistics for student organization activities.
    • Maintaining recreational equipment in the student center.
    • Representing the Office of Student Life on campus-wide event planning committees.
    • Co-chairing the Orientation Committee.
    • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in residence life and/or student engagement preferred.
  • Experience in institutions with specialized missions or smaller enrollments is advantageous.
