Job Summary

PCL Construction, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination: Maintain contracts with select trade partners and oversee subcontract administration, including defining work scope, answering inquiries, and supervising progress.
  • Change Management: Participate in change management and change order process, including pricing, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact before reviewing.
  • Document Control: Maintain and perform project document control and procedures, including coordinating RFIs, shop drawings, and submittal processes, as well as maintaining as-built drawings.
  • Design Supervision: Collaborate with the project team lead in supervising design with timely response to the submittal schedule.
  • Submittal Reviews: Participate in the reviews of trade partners' submittals for compliance with scope and design documentation prior to forwarding to design for review.
  • Project Performance: Coordinate with project manager and superintendent in managing and reporting overall project or select scope performance, including site HSE, cost management, schedule, and quality.
  • Progress Claims: Prepare and supervise progress claims and estimates.
  • Inventory Management: Coordinate inventory and tracking of materials and equipment and expedite material orders.
  • Site Inspections: Assist with site inspections from the design team to resolve constructability and site coordination issues and review and sign off on functionality, AHJ requirements, and code compliance.
  • Project Closeout: Involved in and participates with overall project closeout, including document archival, maintenance, and warranty manuals, deficiencies, and warranty work.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2-4 years of construction experience in an operational role preferred.
  • Education: Associates or bachelor's degree in a related subject area, such as construction management, engineering, or architecture, preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Skills: Verified understanding of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, project health, safety, and environment (HSE), quality, building materials, and required standards as per field.
  • Communication: Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Planning: Planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize own work, and delegate simple tasks.
  • Technology: Ability to build a comprehensive schedule, coordinate subcontracts and contract documents, and shown understanding in Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems with a strong ability to embrace new technology.
