Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Actalent. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, provider offices, and treatment rooms as necessary.
  • Record patient data prior to each provider visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtain necessary patient records and verify consent prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
  • Assist providers with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Participate in delegated patient education activities, including distributing educational literature.
  • Obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
  • Document all elements of care and communicate pertinent information to attending providers.
  • Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols and process instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Provide telephone or in-person screening, gathering information without requiring judgment based on clinical knowledge.
  • Communicate clinical information to providers/supervisors in a timely manner to support care coordination.
  • Phone in prescriptions and maintain accurate medication lists for patients under care.
  • Schedule patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions, and schedule follow-up appointments as applicable.
  • Assist with select pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.
  • Inform providers of patient reschedules and no-shows.
  • Obtain new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
  • Perform other administrative duties as requested by supervisor or provider.
  • Maintain indigent drug programs and sample drug programs as assigned.
  • Maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing through ongoing educational opportunities.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.

Requirements:

  • MA-C or MA-R or DOH Nursing Assistant certification in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • CPR certification.
  • 5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Phlebotomy experience.

Work Environment:

This is a fully on-site position in Spokane, Washington. The employee will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens, toxic or caustic chemicals, and ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
