Position Overview:

The Field Engineer role is integral to the field operations team, responsible for gathering, assessing, and coordinating all necessary information to execute the project in alignment with contractual obligations. This position ensures that all work adheres to safety regulations, meets scheduled timelines, and is completed to the highest quality standards.

In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Field Engineer will prioritize and safeguard the interests of Turner Construction in all operational matters.


Reporting Structure:
Reports to Project Superintendent or Superintendents

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct line and grade work for building layout and control as necessary.
  2. Support the implementation of the site safety program and ensure subcontractor adherence to Turner safety standards and relevant safety codes.
  3. Assist in maintaining contract documents and electronic web-based resources for field operations.
  4. Contribute to the preparation of Daily Construction Reports (DCR's).
  5. Review ongoing work to ensure accuracy within accepted tolerances.
  6. Examine contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings for proper coordination and installation.
  7. Help prepare project as-builts.

Qualifications:

A four-year college degree in engineering or architecture, or equivalent construction experience, along with summer internship or co-op experience in construction, is highly desirable.

Strong interpersonal skills, a willingness to learn, and effective verbal and written communication abilities are essential. Proficiency in relevant computer applications is required, and a basic understanding of scheduling programs is preferred.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at construction locations, where exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and electrical hazards may occur. Noise levels in these environments can range from moderate to very loud.
