POSITION OVERVIEW


In collaboration with the Director of Nursing Services, you will play a pivotal role in organizing, planning, and directing the daily operations of the Nursing Department, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies.

Your primary responsibility will be to deliver direct care to residents as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), with the goal of maintaining the highest standards of quality care at all times.


REQUIREMENTS
Current certification as a CNA is mandatory.

Possession of a valid CPR Certificate or the ability to obtain certification within two weeks of starting employment.

Demonstrated interest or knowledge in therapy, rehabilitation, restorative care, activities of daily living (ADL), splinting, and range of motion (ROM) programs.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Capability to make independent decisions when necessary.

Ability to interact tactfully with customers, family members, visitors, staff, government representatives, and the general public.

Exhibit leadership qualities and a willingness to collaborate harmoniously with team members.

Must be personable, enthusiastic, and resourceful.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to move throughout the facility during the workday.

Capacity to manage the mental and emotional challenges associated with the role.


Must possess adequate sight and hearing, or utilize prosthetics to ensure these senses function effectively for the role.


Ability to work independently, demonstrate flexibility, personal integrity, and effectively engage with customers, family members, staff, and support agencies.

Must maintain good overall health and demonstrate emotional stability.


Ability to relate to and work with individuals who are ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally distressed, or occasionally hostile.


Must be capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving equipment, supplies, and residents weighing over fifty (50) pounds throughout the day.


Exposure to infectious materials, diseases, and conditions, including but not limited to HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Review and recommend updates to the department's Policy & Procedure Manual, Job Descriptions, and cleaning schedules at least once a year.

Collaborate with fellow CNAs to ensure adherence to established departmental policies and procedures, including dress code compliance.

Assist in formulating a comprehensive care plan for each resident that identifies their specific needs and challenges.

Participate actively in care plan conferences as required.


Address and document any concerns or complaints raised by residents or their families, ensuring they are processed appropriately.


Under the guidance of a clinical leader, conduct regular meetings with the nursing staff to identify and resolve issues, as well as enhance service quality.

Support recruitment efforts by conducting preliminary interviews and making hiring recommendations to clinical leadership. Final hiring decisions will be made by clinical leadership or the Administrator.

Provide orientation, coaching, and mentoring to ensure the success of CNAs in their roles. Make recommendations for performance counseling to clinical leadership.

Offer feedback to clinical leadership regarding daily and annual performance evaluations of CNAs.


Conduct daily rounds to verify that nursing staff are fulfilling their responsibilities and adhering to established procedures.

Perform physical rounds of all residents daily and accompany physicians as necessary.

Foster an environment of warmth, personal interest, and positivity, while maintaining a calm atmosphere within the department.

Plan, conduct, and engage in In-service Education Programs.


Assist in implementing a comprehensive orientation program for new CNAs, ensuring they are familiar with the facility, their department, and its policies.

Participate in ongoing education programs.

Recommend necessary equipment and supply needs to the Director of Nursing.

Order equipment and supplies as needed, following budgetary guidelines, and assist in distributing supplies to ensure CNAs have the necessary resources.


Develop methods to coordinate nursing services with other departments to ensure continuity of care for residents.

Monitor and complete administrative tasks such as forms, reports, studies, and charting as required.

Track absenteeism to ensure adequate nursing staff coverage at all times, reporting any issues to the Director.

Assist in maintaining the overall organization of nursing units.


Provide the Director of Nursing with insights regarding the nursing needs of residents and the department's capacity to meet those needs.

Assist in arranging appointments and transportation as necessary.

Support other services in developing and conducting training programs related to nursing services.


Ensure all personnel involved in resident care are aware of the care plan and that it is utilized in daily care delivery.

Attend departmental meetings, infection control meetings, quality improvement meetings, and others as directed.

Maintain daily oversight of documentation compliance.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
