Staff Accountant Job Description

Our client, a reputable Professional Services firm, is seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join their Corporate Accounting team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and firm policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Head of Marketing and Real Estate entity to provide financial support and guidance.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial reporting packages and journal entries related to assigned entities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the firm, with a primary focus on marketing and real estate entities.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and perform actual vs. budget variance analysis.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections, and reconciliations.
  • Support the firm's trust accounts in compliance with state/bar regulations and firm policies.
  • Perform and assist with payroll processing and related financial reporting.
  • Provide support to the General Ledger team during monthly, quarterly reporting, and annual audits and tax filings.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to support client billing and collections.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
  • Assist with the annual audit and liaise with external auditors.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college/university.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including US GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks or NetSuite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
