Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic Specialist to join our team at Gwinnett County Public Schools. As a Diesel Mechanic Specialist, you will be responsible for performing diesel engine maintenance and repairs on our school bus fleet. You will work closely with our transportation and fleet maintenance teams to ensure our buses are safe and reliable for our students and staff.

The ideal candidate will have three years of experience as a diesel mechanic and possess ASE certification in T8 Truck Preventive Maintenance and Inspection within 12 months of hire. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment. We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. Responsibilities:
  • Perform diesel engine maintenance and repairs on school buses
  • Conduct routine diagnosis and accomplish repair and/or rebuild actions as directed
  • Document repair actions and results and record labor, parts, and supplies used according to established procedures
  • Cooperate with and maintain a positive working relationship with all other school system personnel
