This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) works in a self-directed manner, requiring minimal supervision from the RN. The practical nurse seeks guidance from the RN when difficulty is encountered with the assignment. Completes assigned duties and responsibilities, which involve performing nonstandard and specialized practical nursing activities, requiring broad work experience and demonstrated skill sufficient to resolve a range of nursing problems.
Key Responsibilities- Performs and documents focused/functional assessment and reports abnormal findings to the RN Team Leader, Charge Nurse, and/or Nurse Manager.
- As the Charge Nurse, the LVN/LPN, within their scope of practice, effectively assigns, manages, and directs other LVN/LPNs and Nurses' Aides in the delivery of patient/resident care.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to appropriately carry out assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions; to use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments; and to accurately recognize, report, and record relevant patient information.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing, with experience in patient care and a passion for delivering high-quality care. The candidate should be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
EducationA graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
ExperienceAt least one year of qualifying experience at the GS-5 level or equivalent, fully meeting all performance requirements for the GS-5 LPN/LVN.
Physical RequirementsThe work is sedentary, with some movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site.
