Job Summary

The Director of Quality and Outcomes will lead the strategic direction and oversight of quality functions, including patient safety, clinical outcomes, risk management, infection control, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance. This role will collaborate with medical staff, hospital leadership, and external agents to collect and analyze data, implement strategies, and manage outcomes to provide cost-effective, quality safe healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategic Direction: Develop and implement strategic and operational projects and processes to enable the effective and efficient completion of objectives.
  • Staff Management: Oversee the management of staff to meet overall objectives in terms of quality, service, and cost effectiveness. Provide timely guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem.
  • Employee Engagement: Meet or exceed threshold goals for department turnover and/or system metrics on employee engagement indicators.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Provide leadership and communication to maintain a competent and engaged employee group by conducting regular department meetings, rounding on all employees, completing performance appraisals, and providing recognition/commendations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities and take action to build strategic relationships between areas, teams, departments, and units to achieve business goals. Drive the promotion of teamwork within and between departments; participate and/or lead and facilitate department process improvements as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure a safe and effective working environment; monitor and/or revise the department safety plan and/or any specific accreditation/regulatory required safety guidelines.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's or higher degree in a related field.
  • Work Experience: Five years of management experience in a healthcare environment; for internals, three years management experience in healthcare with HM performance that demonstrates leadership responsibility.
  • Certifications: CPHQ - Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) or CPPS - Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CBPPS) or HACP - Healthcare Accreditation Certification Program (CIHQ) or other nationally recognized certification in quality, patient safety, regulatory, risk, or related area.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of regulatory and accreditation agency requirements that impact department; stays abreast of industry changes.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrates highly effective communication skills-strong written communications and platform presentation abilities.
