Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced District System Support Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of staff in a business function, division, or department, and will play a key role in ensuring the effective implementation of the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths Assessment (CANS) program.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the CANS Assessor unit operations to achieve project goals and objectives for services delivery by monitoring budgets and caseloads, consulting with staff on case issues, approving leave and conducting unit meetings.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations related to the CPS Program.

• Provide technical assistance and guidance to agency staff, leadership, and the community related to the Texas Child-Centered Care System, placement process, and CANS assessment.

• Collaborate with the Texas Child-Centered Care System implementation team, executive leadership, Single Source Continuum Contractors (SSCC), and DFPS CANS Assessor teams to develop strategic plans to facilitate quality improvement initiatives.

• Work with the Continuous Quality Assessment and Improvement contractors to provide input on the use and efficacy of the CANS assessment.

• Supervise a unit of DFPS CANS Assessor staff, including hiring and training, and evaluate unit performance through reports and observation of unit operations to ensure unit compliance with policy, procedure, and service control requirements.

Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to the CPS Program, and the principles and practices of public administration and management.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups from diverse populations.

• Ability to manage business function, division, or department activities, establish goals and objectives, devise solutions to administrative problems, develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures, prepare reports, and supervise the work of others.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply a critical and analytical approach to problem-solving and prioritize and manage multiple assignments.

• Ability to work independently and develop productive teams, and work outside of normal business hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification as a CANS Super-Skilled User.

• Experience working with the Texas Child-Centered Care System and the CANS assessment process.

• Strong knowledge of the CPS Program and its policies and procedures.

• Experience supervising staff and evaluating unit performance.
