Position Overview:
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) plays a crucial role in conducting routine analyses on blood, tissues, and various biological samples. This position is vital in delivering accurate results to physicians, utilizing a diverse range of clinical laboratory instruments. A comprehensive understanding of patient safety and laboratory methodologies is essential to ensure the utmost confidentiality and security of patient information.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Conducts analytical evaluations on biological samples promptly, efficiently, and accurately, adhering to established laboratory protocols.
+ Assesses specimen acceptability through visual inspections and identifies any abnormal or atypical results.
+ Recognizes factors influencing measurements and outcomes, taking appropriate actions as per established guidelines.
+ Implements quality control measures for all testing, ensuring compliance with predefined standards before releasing patient results.
+ Upholds a safe and efficient working environment by performing routine equipment checks, maintaining cleanliness in the workspace, monitoring temperatures in accordance with hospital policies, and troubleshooting laboratory apparatus.
+ Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry from a CLIA-approved program (mandatory).
Certifications:
+ Certification as a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or eligibility through a nationally recognized certifying body (preferably ASCP) (mandatory).
Experience:
+ Completion of an externship program (preferred).
