Position OverviewHoxworth Blood Center (HBC), a crucial entity founded in 1938, is on the lookout for a dedicated Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist to spearhead the operations of the Quality Control Laboratory. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in immunohematology reference testing or transfusion services who are eager to contribute meaningfully to the field.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership in blood manufacturing and quality assurance testing.
- Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory.
- Manage the production and testing of transfusable apheresis platelets.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory compliance standards.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory for blood manufacturing processes.
- Facilitate staff training and competency assessments.
- Support safety protocols, cGMP, and the Quality Plan.
- Supervise laboratory personnel.
- Adapt to evolving departmental requirements.
A Bachelor of Science degree or a related field is required.
Certifications/Trainings RequiredMLS (ASCP), SBB(ASCP), or MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent is mandatory.
Experience RequirementsA minimum of three years of experience in the healthcare sector or a related field is essential.
Preferred QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess at least one year of direct supervisory experience.
