Position Overview:

The role of the Assistant Project Manager at DRAGADOS involves a range of responsibilities focused on ensuring the successful execution of construction projects. This position requires effective coordination and management of project activities to meet timelines and budgetary constraints.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with professional teams engaged in project construction.
  • Oversee field operations and align work sequences with the Project Manager.
  • Direct and manage project personnel to ensure timely progress and adherence to budget.
  • Support supervisors in maintaining productivity within budgetary and scheduling parameters.
  • Analyze project estimates or plans to establish schedules, job costs, procedures, staffing needs, and resource allocation.
  • Assess project documentation for completeness and identify any inadequacies.
  • Proactively anticipate project requirements to prevent production delays.
  • Develop work plans and staffing strategies for each project phase, collaborating with Human Resources for recruitment as needed.
  • Facilitate coordination among project staff to define work plans, assign roles, and clarify responsibilities.
  • Monitor project status, adjust schedules or plans as necessary, and prepare reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain vigilance on project directives to identify unproductive situations and opportunities for performance enhancement.
  • Engage with project personnel to provide technical guidance and resolve issues.
  • Promote a culture of safety across the project site.
  • Evaluate field operations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Coordinate the preparation and revision of the formal project construction schedule as stipulated by contract documents.
  • Manage resource allocation with the project superintendent, including craft assignments and project layout.
  • Handle claims documentation and ensure accuracy in subcontractor agreements and change orders.
  • Foster and maintain business relationships with subcontractors, clients, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Engage with contracting and regulatory agencies as well as executive management.
  • Participate in project presentations to stakeholders and the public.
  • Oversee project closeout activities, ensuring all documentation is completed and claims are expedited.
  • Conduct post-project debriefings to evaluate successes and areas for improvement.
  • Negotiate on behalf of the company regarding cost, schedule, and contract matters.
  • Possess knowledge of prevailing wage regulations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution, preferably in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Five to ten years of relevant experience in construction and management.
  • Experience with at least 2-4 roadway projects with TXDOT, particularly high-traffic arterial projects.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 Scheduling Software is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of TXDOT Standard Specifications.
