Job Summary

At Johnson Controls, we are seeking a highly skilled Fire Sprinkler Service Technician to join our team. As a Fire Sprinkler Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing service and repairs on sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential applications.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.
  2. Contact customer representatives and ascertain equipment/systems problems.
  3. Perform service and repairs on sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and fire pumps.
  4. Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, and bulletins to diagnose and repair equipment.
  5. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software, systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  6. Exhibit effective customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  7. Electronically complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding and obtain customer signatures.
  8. Participate in a scheduled On-call rotation.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  1. 5 years of documented experience in the Fire Sprinkler/Suppression industry.
  2. Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
  3. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  4. Must be willing to travel.
  5. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  6. Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  7. Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  8. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
  9. Able to participate in an on-call rotation schedule, with overnight travel required.
  10. Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  11. Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  12. Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures.
  13. Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
  14. Possess a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  15. Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.
  16. Must possess and retain current State Fire Protection License or Journeyman License valid.
  17. Preferred: Backflow, fire pumps, underground, overhead, and standpipe license.
