Position Overview:

Texas Oncology is seeking a Certified Radiation Oncology Physicist to become a vital member of our East Texas Physics team. This role involves collaboration with a group of skilled physicists and dosimetrists dedicated to providing exceptional patient care.

Technology and Equipment:

The East Texas Physics team is equipped with advanced technology, including 6 Varian Linear Accelerators (Truebeam, Novalis TX, IX series, and C series) and operates 2 active HDR programs with Nucletron afterloaders. Our planning and verification systems include Eclipse, BrainLab, VariSeed, Oncentra, Mosaiq, and RadCalc, allowing us to offer a wide range of specialized procedures such as SBRT, SRS, HDR, LDR, and radiopharmaceuticals. We also provide numerous vendor webinars, a journal club, and opportunities to participate in various company-wide physics committees.

Candidate Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's or PhD degree in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited institution, along with 2 to 5 years of experience in radiation oncology physics. A current ABR certification or progress towards certification (having completed part 1) and a valid Texas state license for medical physics are required. Candidates should demonstrate a robust understanding of radiation oncology physics, particularly in SRS, SBRT, and HDR procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive on-site clinical medical physics support at the primary clinic.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP accredited program.
  • Graduation from a CAMPEP accredited residency program.
  • ABR board certification or in the process of obtaining certification.
  • Eligibility for a Texas medical physics license.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both oral and written.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands for this position include the ability to operate treatment-planning computers, stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 pounds, and possess sufficient visual acuity to interpret complex data on monitors. Additionally, the candidate must be capable of aligning treatment fields and monitoring patients during radiation therapy.
