Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Monitor Technician to join our team in Fairfax, Virginia.

Job Summary

The Monitor Technician will be responsible for performing electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretations, analyzing and recording atrial and ventricular rates and rhythms, and measuring EKG waveforms to determine appropriate treatment of arrhythmias and immediate intervention of life-threatening situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform EKG interpretations and record atrial and ventricular rates and rhythms.
  • Measure EKG waveforms and analyze results to determine appropriate treatment.
  • Notify nurse immediately of loss of clear telemetry signal and arrange for coverage when leaving monitor room.
  • Recognize, record, and inform nurse of abnormalities/changes in patient waveforms.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Admit and discharge patients out of telemetry system in accordance with unit policy.
  • Participate in unit quality improvement initiatives.
  • Page STAT to Registered Nurse and healthcare team members for patients with life-threatening arrhythmias and initiate MSET per unit policy.
Requirements
  • High School or GED.
  • Prior telemetry monitoring experience/EKG monitoring in a hospital setting required.
