Medical Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our gastroenterology team at Duarte Management LLC.

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

About the Role

This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain specialized training in GI technology, including endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures. The ideal candidate will assist with patient care, support the clinical team, and train to operate GI-related equipment while adhering to the highest standards of patient safety and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care:
    • Prepare patients for GI procedures, including taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort.
    • Assist with patient intake and update medical records in the EHR system (Mod Med preferred).
    • Provide post-procedure instructions and follow-up care guidance.
  • Clinical Support:
    • Sterilize and maintain endoscopic equipment following established protocols.
    • Assist the GI team during procedures by managing tools, documenting findings, and ensuring a sterile environment.
    • Support biopsy collection and labeling for lab submission.
  • Training in GI Technology:
    • Undergo comprehensive training in the setup, operation, and maintenance of GI equipment.
    • Learn to troubleshoot and address minor equipment malfunctions promptly.
    • Stay updated on advancements in GI technology and participate in ongoing training sessions.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
    • Coordinate with the Authorization and Eligibility departments for procedure approvals.
    • Maintain accurate inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current TB test or flu shot.
  • Hepatitis and Varicella titers.
  • COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Previous experience in a clinical or GI setting preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to learn and commit to specialized GI tech training.
