About the Sous Chef Role

The Sous Chef is a key member of our culinary team, responsible for overseeing food production, quality, and kitchen cleanliness and safety. This role supports the Executive Chef in completing projects and may temporarily assume the duties of the Chef in their absence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and assist the kitchen staff in all aspects of food production, ensuring adherence to recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines.
  • Operate all kitchen equipment safely and correctly, maintaining superior cleanliness and sanitization standards throughout the kitchen.
  • Develop, coach, train, and mentor BOH team members, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Follow all portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures, and perform additional responsibilities as requested.
Requirements
  • 2 years' experience in a similar role, with a minimum of 5 years' progressive BOH restaurant experience.
  • Detailed-oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy and time management, excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong familiarity with OSHA and local Department of Health Regulations, PC literate with a working knowledge of Outlook, Esysco, and MS Excel preferred.
  • Degree in Culinary Arts is a plus, adherence to all Company and Safety Policies and Procedures.
Physical Demands
  • Physical demands include light work, prolonged walking and/or standing, with occasional exertion of up to 35lbs of force.
