Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate the development activities for multiple UTA projects and programs.
  • Apply advanced project management techniques and possess a strong understanding of transportation systems, public transit, and urban planning.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of UTA staff, consultants, and contractors involved in planning studies.
  • Provide technical and business support for transit-related projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in the selection and oversight of consultants and contractors.
  • Engage in resolving critical policy matters and strategic challenges associated with UTA projects.
  • Develop and manage program budgets, track progress, and ensure accountability.
  • Coordinate requests for planning data and analysis, schedule tasks, and guide Planning Researchers in their work.
  • Collaborate with other UTA departments and transportation partners, including MPOs, DOT, and local communities, on planning projects and program development.
Minimum QualificationsExperience/Education/Training
  • At least six (6) years of experience in managing the successful delivery of planning, transit, or capital projects using formal project management methodologies, including scope, schedule, and budget management. A Master's degree in a related field or professional project management certification may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
  • Experience in transit planning or a related field, leading project teams with a minimum of four (4) members and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in transit planning or project management in transit.
  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional certifications such as AICP, ITE, PMP, PTP, PE are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred but not required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is preferred. Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft and/or Procore is advantageous. Adobe Creative Suite experience is a plus.
  • Expertise in facilitating teamwork and conflict resolution.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in project integration management and planning.
  • Effective stakeholder management with a focus on customer satisfaction and quality.
  • Ability to analyze requirements and manage resources efficiently.
  • Capable of multitasking and prioritizing activities for projects of varying sizes and complexities; coordinate cross-functional efforts.
  • Ability to collaborate and function effectively within a large team environment.
  • This position requires regular and predictable attendance.
