Health Services Assistant

The Health Services Assistant provides critical support to the District Nurse in managing the school's Health Services Office. This role involves assisting students with daily routine health care, medications, treatments, and episodic care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in providing individualized medical care to students, under the supervision of the District Nurse.
- Triage, screen, and evaluate students' medical needs, administering first aid as necessary.
- Support students' medical needs in classrooms and during field trips.
- Manage the school's Health Services Office, maintaining confidentiality and data privacy.
- Collaborate with parents, staff, and the District Nurse to ensure student safety and continuity of care.
- Administer medications according to district policy and procedures, as delegated by the District Nurse.
- Dispense medication and provide treatment as prescribed or delegated by the District Nurse.
- Follow Emergency Care Plans and Individualized Student Care Plans written by the District Nurse.
- Accurately complete and maintain records, including services to students with IEPs.
- Report students with repeated symptoms or incidents of communicable disease to the supervisor.
- Assist in obtaining required verification of immunizations.
- Attend required district, building, or nursing meetings and trainings.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
- CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with students with medical needs.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Clerical and computer experience.
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
