Job Summary

The Pharmacy Coordinator Oncology and Sterile Compounding is a critical role within the LifeSpan organization, responsible for overseeing the operations and processes related to oncology and compounded sterile products. This position requires a high level of expertise and knowledge in pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, and sterile compounding procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and provide oversight to operations and processes relating to oncology and compounded sterile product services in accordance with existing hospital policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Serve as the primary designated person responsible and accountable for the operation and performance of the compounding facility and personnel in accordance with USP Chapter .
  • Serve as the primary designated person responsible for standard operating procedure (SOP) development, personnel competency oversight, and ensuring facility and environmental testing compliance in accordance with USP Chapter .
  • Provide oversight to personnel training, monitoring of aseptic processing environments, and competency evaluations of garbing, aseptic work practices, and cleaning/disinfection procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between pharmacy and hospital staff for integration of sterile compounding activities and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide input on the development of policies and procedures related to sterile compounding and oncology services.
  • Continually review and analyze operations, recommending and implementing operational changes, allocation of resources, new technologies, etc. that will increase efficiency and the level of sterile compounding and oncology services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Current unrestricted licensure as a licensed pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications.
  • Three years progressively more responsible related experience preferably gained in a similarly diverse and operationally complex healthcare environment.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Extended periods of time spent standing and walking. Requires the visual and manual dexterity to operate a computer.
