Job Summary:

As a key member of the Butler Hospital team, the Per Diem Pharmacist will assist the Director in the operation and management of the Department of Pharmacy. This role requires a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual who can interpret and transcribe medication orders, maintain accurate records, and ensure the safe and effective use of medications.

Responsibilities:
  • Interpret and transcribe medication orders from physician's order sheets and medication profiles.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of medication use, including documentation of medication compliance for inpatient or outpatient services.
  • Verify and check all entries on medication profiles for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor patients' medication profiles for appropriateness of drug therapy, dosing, and dose forms, as well as potential drug interactions and contraindications.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to medication use.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless medication management and patient care.
Investigational Pharmacist Responsibilities:
  • Review and approve protocols for clinical investigational drug trials.
  • Meet with trial coordinators and research assistants to establish pharmacy's role, determine fee schedules, and implement dispensing, compounding, and billing procedures.
  • Communicate with and train staff on investigational drug trial procedures.
  • Maintain a comprehensive pharmacy binder containing study summaries, protocols, dispensing procedures, and other relevant materials.
  • Manage inventory for clinical investigational drug trials, including ordering, replacing, and returning study materials as needed.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Registered or eligible for registration in the State of Rhode Island.
  • Board Certification in Psychopharmacology is encouraged.
