Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Secretary to join our team at the Langone Orthopedic Center. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to our medical office, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional patient care by greeting patients, answering calls, and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff member.
  • Manage patient scheduling, including routine appointments, follow-ups, and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Coordinate inter-departmental scheduling, collaborating with other areas within the Medical Center to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Obtain pre-authorizations and certifications for treatments and diagnostic procedures, ensuring compliance with insurance coverage and physician directives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including demographic information, insurance details, and medical history.
  • Perform other related duties as needed, including typing routine materials, answering patient questions, and maintaining confidentiality.
Requirements
  • High School diploma required; one year of relevant medical clerical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and computer-based scheduling programs an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
