Our Pediatric Unit

The Children's Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital is a pediatric facility comprising several units that cater to the diverse needs of pediatric patients: Pediatric unit, Pediatric Intermediate unit (PIMU), Pediatric Kostic Infusion Room (PKIR), and Pediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU). We provide care for pediatric patients aged 0 to 18 years. Our subspecialty services include consultation and referral in areas such as Endocrinology, Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Trauma, and Hematology. Our family-centered rounds are conducted daily with an interdisciplinary care team, including physicians, professional nursing services, child life specialists, social services, and nutrition support.

Our Facilities

Our pediatric units are secured with restricted access for staff, and visitors gain entry via monitored access. All pediatric patients wear security tags to ensure their safety. Our facilities include a teen room, a spacious playroom for younger patients, and a family waiting room. Our Pediatric unit and PIMU have a 38-bed capacity. The Pediatric unit is located in the Kellemen building on South 7th and offers 26 beds.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide professional care to pediatric patients utilizing the nursing process, including the therapeutic use of self.
  • Supervise and provide care to patients, following established policies and procedures.
  • Communicate openly with internal customers and supervisors, providing excellent customer service.
  • Apply Cooper core values in daily practice.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Must be competent in 3 women and children's units.
  • Must have at least 2 years of RN experience.
  • Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse).
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers).
  • Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NALS, PALS).
