Overview

The Children's Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital is a pediatric facility comprising several units catering to the diverse needs of pediatric patients: Pediatric unit, Pediatric Intermediate unit (PIMU), Pediatric Kostic Infusion Room (PKIR), and Pediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU).

We provide care for pediatric patients aged 0 to 18 years. Our subspecialty services include consultation and referral in areas such as Endocrinology, Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Trauma, and Hematology.

Our family-centered rounds are conducted daily with an interdisciplinary care team, including physicians, professional nursing services, child life specialists, social services, and nutrition support.

All our pediatric units are secured with restricted access for staff, and visitors gain entry via monitored access. Our facilities include a teen room, a spacious playroom for younger patients, and a family waiting room.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support patients' activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport.
  • Perform technical duties as directed by a Registered Nurse (RN), such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point-of-care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care specific to the population served, and document accordingly.
  • Identify and communicate changes in patient status to the RN and respond appropriately.
  • Reinforce education of patients and families/responsible parties regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
  • Participate in Cooper patient satisfaction initiatives and goals.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Assist in the orientation of new hires.
  • Complete annual unit-specific competencies by the specified due date.
  • Attend staff meetings when available and document review of staff meeting minutes.
  • Assist in admission, transfers, and discharges of patients to and from the unit.
Requirements
  • 0-2 years of experience preferred.
  • High School/GED.
  • Qualifications/Certifications:
    • Successful completion of an unlicensed healthcare provider/technician program.
    • Completed at least one fundamental nursing course in an accredited RN program.
    • 1 year or more patient care experience in a similar role.
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification required.
Work Schedule

Full-time nights, 36 hours a week, with hours from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
