Fluid Systems Production Engineer III: Upper Stage Position

This position requires a highly skilled and experienced engineer to lead the development and production of fluid systems. You'll be responsible for designing, testing, and implementing complex fluid systems, including pressurization, pneumatics, and cryogenic systems.

As a senior engineer, you'll work closely with our cross-functional teams to ensure that our fluid systems meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance. You'll also be responsible for developing and implementing design improvements to increase production rates and reduce costs.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop complex fluid systems, including pressurization, pneumatics, and cryogenic systems
  • Lead the production and testing of fluid systems, ensuring high-quality and safety standards
  • Develop and implement design improvements to increase production rates and reduce costs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure fluid systems meet performance and quality requirements
  • Work with fluid components, including solenoid valves, pneumatic valves, regulators, pressure vessels, and instrumentation
  • Use 3D CAD programs and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs to design and analyze fluid systems
  • Deliver completed designs and analysis reports, adhering to ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience with complex fluid systems
  • Demonstrated experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle fluid system component design or test or manufacturing
  • Demonstrated practical understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
  • Solid understanding of fluid components, including valves, pressure vessels, flex elements, and fittings
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components
  • Working knowledge of materials and treatments
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with hydrazine and/or cryogenic helium, hydrogen, and oxygen systems
  • Solid understanding of cryogenic material properties and testing
  • Experience with component and system testing, troubleshooting, and data acquisition systems
  • Experience with the application and use of welding
  • Project management skills, including supplier management, scheduling, and budget tracking
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends to support build and test
