Sign Language Interpreter

Job Summary:
Sorenson Communications is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide high-quality interpretation services for Deaf consumers in various locations. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication between Deaf and hearing individuals.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English, ensuring accurate and clear communication.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide exceptional customer service and maintain a respectful and professional attitude.
- Adhere to Sorenson's policies and procedures, as well as the National Association of the Deaf - Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (NAD-RID) Code of Professional Conduct.
- Enhance interpreting skills through ongoing education and training, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the diverse interpreting needs of our Deaf community.
- Represent Sorenson Communications with professionalism and integrity, upholding our brand values and commitment to excellence.
Requirements:
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities in ASL, including the ability to pass a required skills assessment.
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for an associate's or bachelor's degree.
- Interpreter certification and a minimum of 3 years' experience working as an interpreter, with a preference for those with a strong background in ASL and Deaf culture.
- Ability to travel independently in the metropolitan area, with access to a vehicle, a valid driver's license, and minimum state-required vehicle insurance.
