About Us

The DAS-HRE provides centralized human resources programs and services to state agencies, with a mission to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse and qualified workforce. We offer critical support to agencies in delivering services to the people of Iowa while administering essential employee benefits programs for state employees and their families.

Position Overview

As a Workday Configuration Specialist, you will play a key role in configuring, testing, and maintaining multiple Workday modules, including Absence, Time Tracking, HCM, Learning, and Compensation. You'll use your expertise to evaluate system requirements, recommend enhancements, and implement configuration updates that improve system efficiency and ensure a seamless user experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and understand end-to-end Workday system behavior.
  • Solve complex configuration challenges and recommend improvements.
  • Implement and test system updates for the various Workday modules.
  • Provide security access to users, ensuring appropriate system permissions.
  • Interpret and apply administrative rules, policies, and procedures for routine and non-routine situations to ensure the system is working correctly.
  • Act as the champion and primary source of product support for all Workday users.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and research new features in Workday.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
  • Workday experience (preferred), with prior Workday configuration expertise.
  • Strong customer service skills to support internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, while also being resourceful and action-oriented.
  • Ability to work efficiently under shifting project priorities while managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision and varied time constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Location and Hours:

This is a hybrid position based in downtown Des Moines, IA. You'll have the flexibility to work from our office as well as remotely. The position follows a Monday to Friday schedule, 40 hours per week.
